I am lucky enough to work in an office that drops the business from “business casual.” (Thank you, SF.) I can wear jeans and Converse to work every day if my heart desires. As tempted as I am to do so, I still try to dress up as often as possible so 1) I don't feel like I'm dragging and 2) so I put all those clothes in my closet to good use.

This outfit can be easily transformed into a business casual outfit. Just add a blazer (which actually makes it a bit more biz professional) and throw on some closed-toe heels instead of these booties if this type of shoe is frowned upon in your workplace. I love this top for work; it’s professional but has a bit of flare with the soft pink and ruffle across the top. I don’t personally enjoy wearing the standard button down that you think of when you envision business casual, so this is a nice alternative to the traditional outlook on what you should wear to work.

Fast forward eight hours and you’re enjoying a drink at happy hour with your friends. This week I am attending a blogger happy hour after work with my friend and photographer Lindsay, and when I was trying to decide what to wear to the happy hour, I knew it had to be something that is versatile and can easily transition from desk to drinks. The trick? It's all in the shoes.

My TOMS Majorca Peep Toe Booties would have been just fine for the blogger event (seriously, y’all, I am obsessed with these booties!), but I wanted to work my new Steve Madden Gorgeous over the knee boots into the equation, knowing full well I’d be way too uncomfortable sitting in these bad boys all day. So, we have a simple desk to drinks transition here: ditch the booties and throw on the OTK boots.
I had a really difficult time jumping on the OTK boots bandwagon. Not sure if you can tell, but I am on the short side, so I was worried that this type of boot would make me look even shorter. It's actually the exact opposite! I feel as though these boots really elongate my legs and make me look taller than I am, which I do not hate one bit. So, to all my short girlfriends out there, you can rock the OTK boot! (Just maybe not with a dress...)

I’m on the hunt for more transitional pieces that work for both scenarios, so stay tuned for more info there especially as El Niño hits the road in the next few weeks and the San Francisco I know and love returns to normal (sans rain, 70 degrees…ah, I’m so ready).
What are your favorite desk to drinks transition pieces?
