A Very Merry Blogger Christmas

I was really looking forward to Christmas this year, more so than normal. This is the first time I've lived extremely far from home around the holidays, and this was also the first time I had to travel by plane to be with my family for Christmas. It felt strange getting on a flight on Christmas Eve and missing the last-minute scurrying with my mom (Target, the mall, baking, you know how that goes), but thankfully, and despite El Niño's threats, we got to Sugar Land, Texas, my hometown, in time for Christmas Eve festivities with my family, which included church and tortilla soup for dinner at my parents' house with extended family. My dad's tortilla soup is out of this world; I'm thinking I need to feature it soon!

Either I am super predictable, or my family just knows me well, but my husband and dad actually got me the same gift this year: a professional camera! My husband ended up returning my gift and got me something else, but I thought it was hilarious that my dad and husband had the same mindset. My dad got me a Nikon 3300, and I could not be more excited! I have been taking photos for my blog with my iPhone 6S and editing them to make them look as professional as possible, but those days are long gone!

I did a lot of playing/learning this weekend, so I didn't end up taking many serious photos, but I did grab a few of a new outfit I had to snag thanks to the Houston humidity that I was not prepared for -- at all. I packed booties and sweaters, and in actuality, I neeeded shorts, T-shirts and sandals. So, I quickly dropped by Francesca's (I was pleasantly surprised that First Colony Mall added this store since I moved away years ago -- have you noticed I LOVE Francesca's?) to grab a thin top and Aldo for sandals, and even though it was in the 80s with 90 percent humidity, I was surprisingly comfortable in this getup. Also, thank goodness for messy buns when humidity attacks every hair on your head, am I right?

Shirt: Francesca's, sold out, but similar here and here // Jeans: Banana Republic (regularly $89.50, currently $44.50!) // Shoes: Aldo (currently 20 percent off!) // Necklace: Stella & Dot // Earrings: Stella & Dot

I still have some practicing to do on the shooting and editing front, but I think these are a good start! And it looks like I have a new model on my hands...

Don't you think he looks SO happy? :) #bloggerhusband

My older brother got me two books to help me elevate my blog, and I can't wait to dive in!

What were some of your favorite gifts or memories from Christmas? And any Nikon fans out there have tips for me?
